Indian co's bag 40 per cent of ANDAs approved

According to a report by Centrum Broking, Indian pharma companies bagged around 40% of all Abbreviated New Drug Approvals (ANDA) approvals from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) between January and July 2013. ANDA approval is a pre-requisite for marketing generic products in the US. Among the Indian companies, Sun Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma emerged the winners with 21 and 20 ANDA approvals respectively.
